New Project and Last Week's 100 Day Celebration

Parents and Readers of this Blog:

Last week our students presented their "What Country Do People Come From?"  or "Country Report".
Very nice results, the students showed great poise when talking about their countries and I plan to post pictures .(of the posters).

100 Day

The 100 day celebration in our class really consisted of the 2nd grade going out and making a giant 100 on the bleachers.  The kids did an outstanding job, as the pictures attest to that.

Famous (Black or Woman or Both) Report

February celebrates Black History month and Women History month.  It was a toss up when I discussed with the other 2nd grade teachers on what to do.  I suggested we compromise and let the students decide what they want to the next report on.
Now parent's I know that we just finished one report and now we are asking for another. But, because we have to condense our 9 weeks into 41/2 , it forces us to do reports practically back to back.

Your child is to select a famous black person, woman or both and make a report and present it to the class.
The kind of report is again up to you but I have a list of things that might make this a bit easier:

Format: The report can be created in one of several ways:
      1. Diorama
      2. Poster
      3. Folder report
      4. Reenactment
      5. Model
      6. Computer report (power point presentation)
      7. Speech

1. Diorama is a box that re-enacts a famous scene from a persons life.
2. Poster report (like the country report) filled with facts and pictures
3. Folder report like the poster report but in a folder report form
4. Re-enactment ( for the actor in your child, perhaps your child might want to act out a scene or famous speech)
5. Model: Create a model of an invention or item that was important to the famous person's life
6. Power point: create a presentation from the computer and present to the class
7 Speech is like no. 4
