Math patterns on the 100 chart

Parents,
Wednesday our class is taking an assessment in Math.
I have researched some links that will  help prepare your student for the test.

Have your student go to this website:http://www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/number-chart.php
Here they will see a 100 chart.  Have them start the screen with these settings:

Starting with 1, have the students skip by 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 and observe the different patterns.
Check out skip by 6

this website can also figure out what number comes next in a pattern.

What next in the pattern?
6,   10,   14,   18,   22

a. 24    b 25     c. 26    d.27

Using the pattern above what is it skipping by?

a. add 3     b. add  4  c. subtract 3  d. subtract 5

Latest News on Winter Play 12/12/2013

Dear Parents,

Schedule of tomorrows events:

Please send your child dressed in costume to school tomorrow.   This way we do not have 3rd and  4th grade all trying to dress up at the same time that 2nd grade is changing.   (Please send your child’s uniform in a bag and we will change after our morning practice.
(Mrs. Guzman is requesting  the rehearsal in full dress)

At the end of school I will be sending back the costume so that your student will come dressed to the actual play.
Please be here no  later than 5:45.

Parents...Thank you for your patience….

Next week’s schedule

Thursday at 1:30 is our pizza party.  Please turn in the $5.00 asap so we can pre buy our pizzas.
Friday is the Polar Express day….Your child may wear cozy clothes such as pajamas, robes or sweats…..

We have a parent volunteer who wants to make ornaments with your child's picture on it.(so they can take home) Our district will only allow this if the child's parent signs a release form. If you want your child to receive an ornament with their picture, please sign the release form. (this is different from the ornament we are making in class.

We Need Earphones

Dear Parents,

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday our class goes to mandatory computer lab for 45 minutes. The program that we work on is I-Station, it is a very beneficial program that is designed to improve reading and comprehension skills of your student.

We have a problem.  Our earphones, that have been part of the lab, since the beginning of the year, have shown a great deal of wear and tear and in most cases are considered unusable by any standard.   (and I do try to repair them)

I am asking that you purchase for your child some earplugs or earphones (preferably from the dollar store)...I will make sure that they are labeled and bagged and to be used only by your child.
I am so sorry for what seems like constantly asking donation for this or that...but this is one of those things that we really need.

Thank You Parents for all you do...

F. Fierros

Christmas Play December 13

Parents

Remember we will need our students to have a white long sleeve shirts (long sleeve t-shirt or mock turtle neck) fortunately we are NOT going to put red stripes on the shirts.  (yea!)   The students will need a Santa hat (from the Dollar Store) and blue jeans.

Our music teacher (Ms. Guzman) has purchased red vest for the kids to wear during the performance.

This Holiday season your students will be creating a seasonal ornament.   I am asking for a 5 dollar donation to purchase supplies needed for this project. The rest of the cost is to purchase pizza for our Christmas Party. I would like to start the Christmas project the last week of school, so please donate by December 13.

Need list summary
1. Santa Hat
2. white long sleeve shirt
3. blue jeans
4. 5 dollar donation.
5.  Dress rehearsal on Wednesday, Dec 11 (students will come in uniform and change into clothes)
6.  Students will come dressed on Friday at 6:00 P.M.  in the cafeteria.
Thank You,

Mr. Fierros

PS
If you would like to donate cookies, candies, etc for the Christmas party on December 20th, please allow for 20 children. Turn in items that morning of the 12/20/13

Week of December 2 poem

December Celebrations

Every year at just this time,
In cold and dark December,
Families around the world
All gather to remember,
With presents and with parties,
With feasting and with fun,
Customs and traditions
for people old and young.
So every year, around the world
In all lands and nations,
People of all ages love

December Celebrations!

(Parents, students are to practice reading this poem at home and in class. This poem is part of the reading fluency grade) Tested on Thursday and Friday.
