Oak Science Experiments - Does Air Take Up Space?

Parents, Students and Bloggers,

This week we talked about air.   We concluded that air is a very real thing, in fact it is a gas.
Using our 5 senses we discussed what we know about air.  We can see what air does to objects, we can hear air, (like a fan), we can feel air blowing across our skin. But, we also performed an experiment to see how air takes up space.

B.O.Y. Beginning of Year Test Results

Parents,

The results of the week-long test are finished and our regular classroom routines and schedule has resumed.  The beginning of the year test that has been given in reading and math, establishes a baseline for your student and allows me to tailor your child's learning experience.
Mission Academy uses the Fountas and Pinell evaluation reading program (aka Guided Reading) and AIMs test for Math. Both test  measure improvement and gains in learning while in 2nd grade.  There will be two more test the MOY and EOY  (middle and end of the year)

If you are interested in knowing the scores, please make an appointment with me after school on Monday, Thursday or Friday.  Or I can send you the scores with our explanations of the results.

Thank You,

Mr. F

Reading Test this Week

Parents and Readers of this Blog:

This week, your student will be taking the fountas and pinnell diagnostic test.  This test will help me find at what reading level your child is reading.  This test will allow me to create a baseline for your child in reading and be able to show the improvement he or she has gained throughout the year.

I will meet with parents in two weeks to begin discussing our test findings, grades and how this year is going so far.
