A Very Successful Year 2011-2012

Parents and Readers of this Blog:

As the school year finally ends and Summer begins  I want to thank my students, parents and everyone who made this a very successful  year.

TPRI scores have proved to be a good indicator of how your child will perform next year. I can truly say that our students overall scores, have shown great deal of growth in reading fluency, comprehension and most of all graphophonemic  (spelling)....Math? Our students have gone beyond 2nd grade curricula and have learned their multiplication tables to the 8ths and most of the nines.

Please parents, check out the packets that I have sent home, the math preview packet shows all the kinds of problems your child is going to be introduced to next year. Use the internet (google) to help with definitions and to find more problems if a puzzle proves difficult .

The reading list is great start for your child to really keep up with their hard earned skills and to enjoy the wonders of reading.

The mayor's reading program is a fantastic way to have fun reading and using our public library. Please see the earlier blog for more details

Spelling City will be maintained till the end of July.  I will put new list for your students to try and have fun with.

If you have any questions please write or email here at my school address: ffierros@saisd.net

Parents and Readers of this Blog:

Parents
In continuing with my earlier blog post, Summer is not same ole Summer, I recommend that students put in one hour every day this summer to prepare for the upcoming STAAR test that they will be taking;

I am sending home a packet which summarizes the 3rd grade math curricula and a reading list that students should read from, this Summer.

I am excited to announce that Mayor Julian Castro has initiated a program called the
The Mayor's Summer Reading Program (sponsored by the San Antonio Public Library).
Please click on the links below for further explanation of this great program:

This is one of the best reading list for this summer that I found on Google:( 3rd grade reading list:)

The ultimate goal is to have your child be able to transition quickly to 3rd grade with minimal review and focus on the new material that they must know so they can have a successful year.

Thank You Parents for all you do,

Mr.F.Fierros
