Dear Parents and Readers of this Blog:
Last week our class took the Fountas and Pinell reading test. This test analyzes and gives a rather good indication of the reading level your child is currently at. The levels range from A-Z with A being the lowest and Z the highest. Our kids goal at the end of the year, is level N.
I will send a note with the level that your child is at, and if further conversation is needed, please make and appointment to see me at your earliest convenience.
I am currently preparing reading packets with books, poems and readings at your child's reading level. They will practice reading using these books everyday during reading time. We will continue to use the basal (classroom reader Journeys), so our kids can also practice grade level reading and work on comprehension (weekly reading test), this is important practice for next years STAAR test.
On your part, please have your child read everyday. Not just their reading book, but anything they can get their hands on. We are now checking out books from our library, but a family visit to the Roosevelt Library is a great family activity.
On another note, we now have a change in how we drop off our students at Mission Academy. I sent home a note convening this with all the details. This will start Monday, September 29.
Thank You parents for all you do,
FF
